The figure partially visible in the watermark to the left was taken from the thesis in mechanical engineering presented by Italo Digiovanni Schmiedt in 1948. The drawing depicts a fast 'compensated' diesel engine that was innovative when the thesis was presented, for which a patent was obtained.
